This cookbook is AMAZING. It has a lot of basic stuff, some of my favorites banana bread and cinnamon rolls. This book has some easy recipes to some more time consuming, but all pretty easy. I have easily replaced my other books with this one.

I know that if I ever want to try something new or cook dinner for guests I can count on this book to lead me in the right direction. This is the first cookbook I ever received when I moved out of my parent's house, and 10 years later it is an invaluable resource for learning how to cook. It has information on how use use different types of flour, spices, and how to prepare meats properly. The recipes are easy to follow, use common ingredients (for the most part) and take into account that in today's world having the nutrition facts listed is important. I have tried many recipes from this book and every single one of them has been delicious. A perfect gift for someone who is just starting to cook or someone who has been cooking for decades, this book is full of the basic recipes that all families can enjoy. I prefer it over Betty Crocker and Joy of Cooking.
I've always loved to cook but I threw away my 1965 edition of BH&G about 10 years ago because I was only using a few of the recipes. This one is full of healthy, interesting selections. I'm thrilled and surprised as I was only looking for a basic cookbook at a good price when I ordered this.
